Research Positions available

Position: Student Researcher: Blueberry Plant Physiology

Description: Year long project (2011-2012).  Measuring plant responses to various soil treatments and comparing productivity indicators across five cultivars. 

  • Use instrumentation to measure plant leaf physiology including respiration and water uptake
  • Determine plant vigor parameters as based on measures of plant grow; bud production; etc.

Requirements: Undergraduate student at Eastern Mennonite University who has completed courses in biology and chemistry. The position requires completing a portion of the outlined research project which includes following the project design, obtaining data, analyzing data, making periodic oral reports/presentations, and writing a final project report on project (due April 2012).

Position: Student Researcher: Blueberry Foliar Analysis

Description: Year long project (2011-2012). Measuring blueberry foliar content and comparing to various soil treatments and comparing foliar indicators across five cultivars. 

  • Use instrumentation (atomic absoprtion) to measure plant leaf content for basic elemental and micronutrient materials.
  • Determine plant vigor parameters as based on measures of plant grow; bud production; etc.

Requirements: Undergraduate student at Eastern Mennonite University who has completed courses in biology and chemistry. The position requires completing a portion of the outlined research project which includes following the project design, obtaining data, analyzing data, making periodic oral reports/presentations, and writing a final project report on project (due March 2012).
